Quality Essentials: Key lime

Key lime is a fruit that serves many purposes, which is why it is definitely a quality essential! The key lime has many health benefits and can easily be used as a natural way to boost the immune system and improve overall health. A daily game changer is simply a glass of lime water in the morning to kick start your day.

-Blood Sugar

Limes and many other citrus fruits help control blood sugar. The high levels of soluble fiber found in limes helps it regulate the body’s absorption of sugar into the bloodstream. This helps reduce the occurrence of blood sugar spikes which are a serious risk to people with unhealthy blood sugar levels.

One of the many causes of joint discomfort is an excess of uric acid that builds up in the body. Uric acid is one of the waste products that normal urination will clear out of the body, but unfortunately, when too much builds up, it can settle in and around joints and cause pain and inflammation.

The citric acid found in citrus fruits like limes can help dissolve the uric acid deposits which are then eliminated in the urine. No wonder many doctors recommend lime juice to people with symptoms of gout!

Vitamin C, found in high concentrations in citrus fruits like lime, naturally lowers body temperature. If you are suffering from a fever, limes and lime juice can be of great importance. In fact, if the fever is very high, it might be a good idea to restrict your diet to lime juice and water.

-Weight Loss

A glass of warm water with a full lime’s worth of juice in it is an excellent weight reducer as well as a brilliant refresher and antioxidant drink. The citric acid present in lime is an excellent fat burner.

I’m guessing you’re already adding key limes to the top of your grocery haul list, this simple yet amazing quality essential will definitely help you step into your own lime light!

Making Work Fun!

On Monday’s do you come into work with a smile or a frown? The average person may say a frown as we all know about the stigma of working on a Monday. But if you were to really think about it, why is it that our first day of the work week is an unpleasant one? Life is too short not to smile, so instead of seeing that Monday as the end of a fun weekend, try to reshape your thinking and see it as the start of a new productive week.

Another thing to consider is most individuals come to work just for the check while others just enjoy what they're doing. When you love your job it becomes more than a job. You see it as more than just a paycheck and it turns into a constant adventure. Some ways to get into this way of thinking, something as simple as looking in the bathroom mirror in the morning and saying "Today is gonna be a good day!" can turn the tides in a more positive direction. Sing in the car like you're headlining your own concert, and when people in other cars stare at you, sing even louder! Say "Good morning" to people you'd normally just pass by without a word. When you change the behavior the personally gradually follows suit. You'll be surprised how something as small as these can make such a big impact. Before you know it, you'll be looking forward to a Monday instead of dreading them.

We Work for You!

As a Medical Staffing Agency, QRMS works for you by providing quality staff 24/7. Our first priority is patient care which is based on time and experience. We will only send qualified employees to your facility, and when working at any location the most important aspect is the patients we are caring for.

It’s a known fact that when someone isn’t feeling well their whole demeanor changes. Their body language, appearance, and attitude stand out immediately. Three main qualities we focus on are communication, commitment and compassion, each hold a powerful meaning.

When working with a patient that isn’t feeling well, we put ourselves in their situation and apply the care we would want if the situation was reversed. Patient care and understanding their needs is something medical personnel should take pride in.

Whether you are a temporary placement or permanent individual filling in, that patient should be treated with the same care and respect that you would want for your loved ones. The four words we take pride in are: “We Work for You!”.

Do you respond to emails?

Emails can be important to your business since it seems to be the new way of communicating.  Responding to your emails whether business or personal can be equally important. What is the main thing in a business email that would be important to you? Generally replying back to your clients would be the professional thing to do. I have found that a lot of businesses do not return emails. What is considered important to you may not be for them. I have to admit a lot of junk mail does find it's way into your inbox and some of us automatically hit the delete button. That, I am guilty of.

What would you consider a reasonable time frame to expect a response? Some would say a day or two at the most depending on the severity of the email. I understand that businesses get caught up in the everyday life of business meetings and deadlines, but is that an excuse not to respond? Below are a few reasons as to why emailing can be beneficial:

Emails are good for some who prefer avoiding the face to face meetings.

Emails are ways to promote your business.

Emails are easier.

Emails can be your confirmation in writing that you contacted the person.

A Diamond In The Ruff!

Have you ever felt as though you were looked over or even not noticed? Today's Blog! A diamond in the ruff!

Small businesses continuously have to fight to be noticed in the big world of staffing. The main factor in it all is that we all started from the bottom and have managed to make our way to the top. Small businesses are a diamond in the ruff and once society realizes their shine it becomes a priceless jewel.

A major element for small businesses is advantage!  Allegedly with larger companies you may rarely meet the top people, whereas new or small business owner's like to keep it personal and get to know their clients. Not saying that larger companies don't, but its extremely rare. One goal for smaller organizations is building long and lasting relationships. A small business's greatest weapon is a strong sense of determination, meaning you are that force to be reckoned with.

* Shows compassion and respect

Rise Higher In What You Do!

friendship (1).jpg

Rise Higher
Sometimes in order to embrace the destiny God has in store, you have to be willing to make some difficult changes in your life. You have to be willing to examine where you are and what you need to do in order to move forward. This may mean that you need to change some friends you’re spending time with. Maybe they were fine for a season in your life, but you’ve outgrown them. This is a new season, and in order for you to rise higher, you have to break away from relationships and habits that are limiting you. You have to develop some new friendships with people who are going to pull you up and inspire you to rise higher, as well as changing your routines for the better.

I’ve found that if you’re the smartest one in your group, your group is too small. Find people who are smarter than you, people who will challenge you to stretch to the next level. Remember, he who walks with the wise becomes wise. Choose your friends wisely so that you can rise higher and walk in the destiny God has for you.

As Always We Welcome your feedback.

Holiday Season

In today's blog we will be talking about the Holiday Season. As we approach Christmas, for many, it is a joyous time of the year, and for others it's a day they want to see disappear. Christmas is not about who gets the best present or how much money we have. Always remember that someone is taking their last breath while you are complaining. Christmas is my favorite time of the year mainly because I love to see everyone happy and healthy. Around the holiday season, giving is the most precious gift you can give. It does not have to be Monterey, there are numerous ways to give, it is truly the thought that counts. Many of us have lost loved ones around this time and it may seem hard, but remember they would not want for you to be sad or let their passing prevent you from enjoying the holidays, nor would our Lord and Savior. For those of you that are reading, I want to challenge you to do something for someone even if it seems small or insignificant, please try it. I promise your heart will be filled with joy just knowing that you helped put a smile on someone's face. Christmas is about expressing love for one another. We should not hold on to any negative feelings and remember Jesus is the reason for the season. God Bless you all and have a very Merry Christmas.

As Always we encourage you to share your thoughts about what you will be doing for Christmas!

Should Businesses Put Employees in the Same Room?

Today's Topic!  Should businesses put co-workers in the same hotel room?

I would definitely have to disagree. I think that each individual should have an option regarding sleep arrangements. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't like being put in an uncomfortable situation, especially when it comes to me sleeping in a room with a complete stranger. Just because you work with someone does not mean you know them. The company I worked with several years ago put me in a room with someone I didn't know or had even seen before. Number one, I was not happy with the arrangement, and number 2, I was not told that I would be sharing a room with someone.

A gentlemen i know said that his company gives their employees the option to share with someone or pay the difference meaning the company pays half and you pay the other half. I too have a slight problem with that since I'm traveling and representing the company, I think that my accommodations should be strictly on the company. I would love to hear your thoughts regarding today's topic.

Women In Business

It's known that in today's society women are becoming a key part of the workforce by leading top positions in major companies, either by running or owning their own businesses. Statistics showed that in 1999 women's growing labor force peaked at 60.0%. Even today women are still on the rise and making an impact in the workforce. I am not picking on men by far, just letting the world know that women are a force to be reckoned with. Who says that a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend can't add "entrepreneur" to her resume

Recognition is a main factor for woman owned businesses and getting someone to give you a chance to fulfill the dream of being a successful business owner. A lot of doors will close, but perseverance is the key to continuing to push forward. Never stop dreaming your dream. I am on the path to greatness and I intend to help others along the way. I am a firm believer that if we support each other great things will happen for everyone. With that, I will continue to walk in my truth. God Bless!

We'll always welcome your feedback!

Today's Topic! Working Again After Leave!

Should a medical professional be allowed to work in their field after taking less than a 2 years leave of absence? If their licenses are current and past references can verify their skill set and work ethics I would say YES!!!!!!

These are just a few reasons medical personnel may leave their job temporarily:

  • Health Issues
  • Stress
  • Death of a family member
  • Birth of a child

A gentleman has worked in the medical field for 25 years. He decided to take personal leave for a year and a half, now he's finding it difficult for anyone to hire him again as a traveler. Most agencies want you to have been out of work less than a year. Do you agree or disagree with this decision?

QRMS welcomes your thoughts and we're open to ideas as well. We try and focus on everyday life and current activities in the medical field through our experiences and that of employees.

Travel Destination

Each week QRMS wants to share some of their experiences with you and keep you updated on travel and what it's like working in the industry.

There are some amazing places to travel to. A lot of travelers see it as work and play with a bonus vacation. When traveling to your destination, the first thing on your agenda is your living arrangements and the area you will be residing in for the next 13 weeks. Like any traveler you want to be safe, secure, and comfortable. We hear that the hottest places to stay when on assignment is Airbnb, its basically your home away from home with all the comforts of home. Airbnb offers trusted services, 24 hour customer support, furnishings and more.

Your comments are always welcome. We grow through you! Feel free to ask questions and post your ideas. Enjoy your day.

Traveling Nurse, Med Tech, Phlebotomist, and More! The Good, Bad, & the Ugly!

I bet that we all have stories to tell about our traveling experiences. The good the bad and the ugly is the topic for today's blog. We as medical travelers know the highs and lows of our profession and sharing your experiences helps others by knowing what to do and what not to do! When you accept a travel assignment the first thing on your mind is the PAY Package, if our recruiter is putting our best interest to heart, the hospital setting, your housing, and most importantly the area we will live for the next 13 weeks. As a former traveler and now on the other end of the table, I can personally say that these are all important factors. I think as a traveling medical professional you want the assurance that at any given time you can call your recruiter. My first travel assignment was in Colorado Springs and I absolutely loved it. Everything about the agency was perfect! My recruiter called daily to check on me. This and many other experiences as a traveler help mold my company. I want my employees to know I truly care about them and that we are team players. One thing I did realize is that when you step into a new hospital, not saying all, but they think you're there to replace them and that's simply not the case. Our job is to help, not replace and that's what we stand for as a traveling medical professional. I did have one horrible experience with the arterial line and it reminds me constantly of what not to do. I don't really care to elaborate, but just know that experience was horrifying and is still stuck in the back of my head, so that was my ugly. I've trained other employees regarding the knowledge of the art line.

Your Feedback is welcomed and appreciated to help other Medical Professionals who are looking to expand by becoming a traveling Nurse, Med Lab Tech, Phlebotomist, cna, etc.

Proving Yourself

I believe that all new businesses feel that they have to prove themselves in today's business society. You can't tell me the thought has never crossed your mind. I talked to a friend and he said  "it's not so much about proving yourself, but fear of something new is what scares them". So I started thinking and he was absolutely right.  I try to attend most of the network meetings to educate myself and the staff on different approaches and learning the rules and regulations as a new business owner. One day me and another business were applying for the same contract and the big question is what some of us fear most: "Why Should We Hire You?". The other company was feeling confident that they would win the contract. After they answered the question then it was my turn. I stood up greeted everyone and proceeded to speak.  "Even though they have over 20 years experience and my company has under 2 years that would be the only difference. Yes, they have a track record but, we offer the same quality. Our staff is just as experienced and qualified as there's if not more. We're asking for a chance to show you that our staff can perform to the fullest. I feel we stand out in other areas because of our unique way of communicating to our clients and staff when they are on assignment. The President and I leave our personal lines open to make sure that they are settled in and safe. If anything they will say that "while I was on assignment QRMS called me constantly".

We Welcome Your Feedback!

First Priority Is You! Taking Pride In What We Do!

Hello QRMS Blog viewers!

I would like to tell you how we decided Quality Response Medical Staffing would be our signature slogan and name. Everyone always says "that a name speaks for itself" needless to say QRMS wasn't our first choice. After countless weeks, lunches, dinner's and wine our decision was made.

We chose "Quality" because of what it stands for: character, attribute, natural and how we plan to deliver the product. We felt that "Response" would be a perfect fit when reacting to situations or occurrences as they arise, and for QRMS being in control of a situation is a plus! Not saying that things may and can't become hectic, but having an awesome team beside you is a definite plus. Each member of our team comes with a specific skill set. They are team players working hard to take care of our clients and employees. We have a 24 hour call line for emergencies  so that our employees and clients can reach us. I've been on the other side and I know what its like to need help and can't get anyone on the phone until the following day or Monday if its a weekend. We stand behind our slogan "1st Priority is you! Taking pride in what we do!"

We would love to hear your feedback.

Why I Started My Business

I started my business after many years of working and traveling. After being on assignment one Christmas I talked to my family about starting a staffing agency. We discussed all the different ways that we could make a difference in the staffing industry. Starting something new is never easy but if you are confident in yourself you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. The most important thing for me was having the support of my family. I started out as a phlebotomist eighteen years ago. Phlebotomy is where my passion lies, I was fascinated with the flow of blood  and the unique ways blood is tested and then getting an end result which leads to a diagnosis, the process simply amazing. Years later I decided to pursue nursing which also opened a lot of doors. Being able to understand both ends of the business gives me a whole new outlook on how I can help my clients and employees. Like my dad use to say, "until you have walked in my shoes you can't begin to understand". QRMS is in it's growing stages and we would love for you to grow with us. I have some amazing plans for this business, quitting is not an option! Follow me on this journey.

Traveling Phlebotomists

What are your biggest rewards/issues being a traveling phlebotomist?

Traveling as a phlebotomist has many rewards. Personally for me, when I had my very first travel assignment the first thing came to mind was the movie "Taken". I had never heard of a traveling phlebotomist so you can only imagine where my thoughts were taking me. I had never traveled anywhere alone before so it was scary and exciting. It all happened very fast so I had to make a quick decision. Several years later, the benefits of traveling has defintely paid off.

If you're reading this what experiences have you had and what are your thoughts?
